Caliber has announced that construction documents for its joint venture development, PURE Pickleball & Padel, were completed, submitted and accepted for review by the Salt River Pima–Maricopa Indian Community on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025.
This milestone marks the beginning of the building permitting process—the final step before construction begins on the 196,726-square-foot facility. Construction is expected to take approximately 15 months, according to a press release.
PURE has selected DAVIS, a Phoenix-based architectural firm, to design the indoor facility, which will serve as a year-round venue for pickleball and padel, the release states.
The facility will feature a professional arena, community courts and country club-style amenities, including a restaurant and bar, pro shop and private VIP areas.
Engineering, planning, landscape architecture and land surveying services will be provided by RICK, also based in Phoenix. Jeff Hunt, PE, associate principal at RICK, expressed enthusiasm for supporting the development of the 200,000-square-foot sports and entertainment venue, which is expected to attract approximately 500,000 annual visitors.
PURE Pickleball & Padel is developing an 11-acre site within the Riverwalk Development Project, located in the Talking Stick Entertainment District — a 100-acre area adjacent to Scottsdale.
The facility aims to become the largest indoor pickleball and padel venue in the world, featuring a 1,200-seat professional arena, 40 indoor pickleball courts, eight indoor padel courts, a sports performance and recovery fitness center by HonorHealth, a restaurant and bar by Wolfgang Puck Catering, pro shop, locker rooms and spa, special event spaces, rooftop patio and bar, meeting rooms, childcare services and other amenities.
“We are excited by the continued progress that is being made to realize the vision for PURE Pickleball & Padel™ as a premier destination for the sport’s enthusiasts and a lifestyle development that improves the lives of the people in the community,” said Chris Loeffler, CEO of Caliber.
Caliber designed the offering to encourage broad participation, including from pickleball and padel enthusiasts seeking exposure to two of the fastest-growing sports in the United States and globally.
