Saddleback Communications, a provider of fiber-based internet, voice and cloud communications services for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community recently completed the addition of more than 3,000 new fiber miles to its core fiber optic backbone.
The new fiber network is part of the sizable fiber and communications network on the SPRMIC and to the community business customers, according to a press release.
Fiber optic internet delivers data via a cable filled with thin glass or plastic fibers. Fiber networks carry more bandwidth than similarly sized copper cables with speeds nearly 20 times faster than regular cable, the release states.
“This expansion provides a stronger network with large fiber capacity for continued, future growth within the community — helping Saddleback to continue to offer unparalleled service and coverage to both our residential and business customers,” said CEO of Saddleback Communications Bill Bryant, in a prepared statement.
The additional fiber triples the size of Saddleback’s transport network and is part of preparations for new Core Backbone Technology (Arista) Saddleback plans to implement later this year.
