Former NFL player Jon Condo closed nearly $50 million in Arizona real estate transactions last year as he transitioned from professional football to a career with Compass.

Mr. Condo, a resident of the Arcadia neighborhood in Phoenix, grew up in a small Pennsylvania town near Penn State University, where sports played a significant role in his upbringing. The youngest of four children, Mr. Condo began playing football as a linebacker in college before learning to long snap, a shift that helped define his path in the sport.

While pursuing football, Mr. Condo also focused on completing his degree, having grown up in a family of educators and at one point considering a career in teaching.

His professional career began when the Dallas Cowboys signed him out of college, though he was released after three games.

“I knew it was a cutthroat business,” said Mr. Condo. “Any slip-up I had could get me released.”

After his release, Mr. Condo moved to Maryland, where he worked as a substitute teacher while continuing to train. He later received an opportunity with the New England Patriots before eventually joining the Oakland Raiders, where he established a long tenure as a long snapper.

“When an opportunity arises, you have to be prepared for it,” said Mr. Condo. “You never know when those opportunities are going to come around,” Mr. Condo said.

During his time in the NFL, the league encouraged players to pursue professional development opportunities to prepare for careers after football. Mr. Condo developed an interest in real estate after purchasing a home and later began buying, selling and renovating properties.

Following the conclusion of his NFL career, Mr. Condo relocated to Arizona and joined Compass, where he began building his real estate business.
Mr. Condo has since worked in markets including Arcadia, Paradise Valley and Scottsdale, focusing on residential real estate.

He has also worked with properties such as a home at 4838 E Palomino Road in Phoenix, which spans more than 11,000 square feet on 1.5 acres and was previously owned by former professional baseball player Howard “Howie” Kendrick.

Mr. Condo said the discipline and preparation required in professional sports continue to guide his work in real estate.

“I feel like the habits I built playing football still apply today,” he said.
