The Mesa Historical Museum has opened the Arizona Baseball Museum, the first museum in the state dedicated solely to Arizona’s baseball history.
Found in the historic Lehi Auditorium, the museum shares the story of baseball’s early roots in Arizona — from military posts and mining towns to community teams and the development of spring training, according to a press release.
The museum also explores the origins of the Cactus League and the role local communities played in making Arizona a spring training destination.
Visitors can view historic photographs, memorabilia and personal stories featuring both well‑known players and the many individuals behind the scenes — groundskeepers, team staff, organizers and fans—who helped baseball grow in the state.
“This is a story that hasn’t been told in one place before,” Executive Director Susan Ricci said. “Arizona helped shape the game of baseball—from barnstorming teams to the creation of the Cactus League. We are excited to finally give that history a permanent home.”
The Arizona Baseball Museum offers a year‑round destination for residents, baseball fans and visitors. The museum will also host special programs, guest speakers and seasonal exhibits tied to spring training and milestones in Arizona baseball.
