Delta Dental of Arizona has appointed Jonathan Sokeye, CPA, MBA, as chief financial officer, adding a healthcare finance executive with nearly three decades of leadership experience to its executive team.

In his new role, Mr. Sokeye will lead the organization’s finance, accounting and underwriting functions while also overseeing facilities and operations. He succeeds Mark Anderson, who recently retired after a career in finance and healthcare and served on Delta Dental of Arizona’s leadership team since 2004.

“We are deeply grateful to Mark for his years of exceptional leadership, financial stewardship and unwavering commitment to Delta Dental of Arizona,” Michael Jones, president and chief executive officer of Delta Dental of Arizona, said. “Jonathan’s remarkable track record in finance for some of the nation’s largest healthcare companies, coupled with his expertise in strategic growth, business transformation and data-driven decision-making, makes him exceptionally well-positioned to help lead Delta Dental of Arizona into its next chapter.”

Mr. Sokeye brings nearly 30 years of experience as a financial and executive leader, primarily in the healthcare industry. Most recently, he served as health plan chief financial officer for Carolina Complete Health Inc., a joint venture of the North Carolina Medical Society and Centene Corp. Previously, Mr. Sokeye served as vice president of finance for Option Care Health and Humana, where he led financial planning, treasury, forecasting and strategic business operations. Earlier in his career, he was business unit chief financial officer for Walgreens Infusion Services, overseeing financial strategy, forecasting and merger-and-acquisition initiatives for the business.

Mr. Sokeye also held finance leadership positions with Abbott Laboratories and AbbVie and began his career in public accounting with Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Topel Forman.

In addition to his executive leadership experience, Mr. Sokeye has served on the board of directors of Lifespace Communities since 2021, a national nonprofit senior living organization with communities in multiple states. He currently chairs the organization’s Audit, Risk Management and Quality Committee and serves on its Finance and Investment Committee.

Mr. Sokeye earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Northeastern Illinois University and a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurship from the University of Illinois. He also completed executive education in leading with data and analytics at the University of Chicago.

Mr. Sokeye is a certified public accountant and chartered global management accountant. A native of Chicago, he and his wife have three adult children pursuing higher education in engineering and healthcare.
