HonorHealth, a Valley‑based nonprofit healthcare system, is nearing completion of a major renovation and expansion at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center aimed at increasing access to care in north Phoenix.
The $170 million project, launched in 2023, expands capacity and modernizes patient‑care spaces to support the region’s growing population, according to a press release.
The hospital’s licensed bed count has increased from 204 to 238 as part of the project. Central to the expansion is a new four‑story, 166,000‑square‑foot patient care pavilion, along with campuswide upgrades designed to support patient care and operational efficiency.
Improvements include four new operating rooms, expanded pre‑ and post‑operative areas, a redesigned main entrance and lobby, and updated amenities for patients, visitors and clinical teams. The renovation also focuses on comfort, healing and improved wayfinding throughout the campus.
“This expansion is about more than growing our footprint, it’s about strengthening our ability to care for our community,” Matt Morgan, administrator of HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, said. “North Phoenix continues to evolve, and we’re evolving with it by creating a more advanced, efficient environment that supports exceptional care today and well into the future.”
Community leaders say the expansion is expected to have a broad local impact.
“As north Phoenix grows, so does the need for accessible, high-quality healthcare,” Phoenix Councilwoman Ann O’Brien said. “This investment ensures residents can receive the care they need close to home, and it reflects a strong commitment to supporting the health and vitality of our community.”
Final project elements, including a new first‑floor cafeteria and a renovated kitchen, are expected to open this summer. A ribbon‑cutting and grand opening celebration is planned for later in 2026.
HonorHealth officials say the expansion reflects the system’s longer‑term strategy to meet increasing demand for healthcare services while improving the patient experience in one of the Valley’s fastest‑growing areas.
