The School of Ballet Arizona is inviting ballet students from across the Valley and beyond to participate in its annual summer training programs.
Dancers ages 12 to 20 may apply to the Upper Division Summer Intensive, which will run from June 8 through July 10, 2026.
The five‑week program focuses on technical development and artistic growth while offering instruction from faculty and guest dance professionals. Participants will train in
Phoenix while developing discipline, resilience and confidence within the School of Ballet Arizona community, according to a press release.
The Summer Intensive provides classical ballet training alongside a range of additional dance styles intended to prepare students for the varied demands of professional dance companies. Classes are held five days a week for upper‑ and lower‑division students. Auditions are available through video submission or in person at select locations nationwide, including two opportunities in the Valley.
For the second consecutive year, the School of Ballet Arizona is participating in a national coalition of professional ballet schools that offers a unified audition process. Students attending a National Summer Intensive Audition will be considered for acceptance by all 15 participating schools. The National Summer Intensive Audition at the School of Ballet Arizona is scheduled for Jan. 11, 2026. A second Phoenix audition opportunity will be held March 1, 2026.
Younger dancers ages 4 to 12 are also eligible to participate through the Summer Ballet School, which will run from June 8 through June 18 and from July 13 through July 24, 2026. The program provides foundational ballet training in a structured environment while introducing students to stretching, modern dance, character and choreography.
Classes are held two to five times per week depending on age and level. Auditions for the Children’s and Lower Divisions will be held March 1, 2026, at the School of Ballet Arizona in Phoenix.
Children ages 4 to 6 may also enroll in the school’s second annual Once Upon A Dance Camp. Camp participants are encouraged to wear princess or superhero costumes while exploring creative movement and participating in themed activities led by visiting characters.
Dates for the camp will be announced at a later time.“The School of Ballet Arizona’s Summer Intensive program is a place where dancers discover their potential and ignite their passion for ballet,” said James Payne, director of the School of Ballet Arizona. “With world-class training, mentorship, and an environment that encourages both artistry and discipline, students leave not only stronger in technique but inspired to pursue their dreams with confidence.”
