Phoenix Rescue Mission is appointing Greg Forney as the organization’s new chief development officer.
In his new position, Mr. Forney leads fundraising and donor engagement to support the Phoenix Mission’s efforts in the Valley of the Sun including strategic development efforts, cultivating key philanthropic partnerships, and work closely with the executive team to advance Christ-centered solutions to homelessness and hunger.
“We’re thrilled to have Greg on our executive leadership team to help expand our impact and advance our mission,” said Ken Brissa, CEO. “His invaluable skills, dedicated faith and commitment to improving communities in need make him the perfect addition to the Mission.”
Mr. Forney’s experience includes a variety of diverse roles at organizations such as Food for the Hungry, Langham Partnership USA, and CURE International. Through his expansive career, he has led teams and initiatives that have impacted communities in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Most recently, Mr. Forney served as head of donor relations at CURE International, where he played a key role in raising funds and awareness that advanced the organization’s mission to provide life-changing medical care for children.
“I consider it a profound honor to walk alongside others in advancing hope, transformation, and healing across the Valley,” Mr. Forney said. “The work that Phoenix Rescue Mission does is crucial to saving the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors. I look forward to doing my part in advancing that work.”
Mr. Forney was the co-founder of an aerospace engineering test lab before transitioning into the nonprofit sector; a shift driven by a deep personal calling to serve the most vulnerable. He holds a B.A. in marketing and a master’s in communication from Arizona State University, and a Master of Divinity from Phoenix Seminary. He also holds a certification in nonprofit executive management from Lodestar.
After a recent sabbatical for cancer recovery, Forney is now healthy and cancer-free, and eager to make a meaningful impact in his hometown. Married for 31 years with two children, he is a long-time Phoenix resident who enjoys golf, composing music for nonprofit causes, and coaching youth sports.
