A group of 107 Arizonans has begun a six-month leadership development program through Valley Leadership’s Catalyze Class 6, where participants will explore leadership practices, community issues and opportunities for civic engagement.
Now in its sixth year, the Catalyze program brings together emerging and established leaders from a variety of industries, backgrounds and communities. Participants will examine leadership styles, learn about challenges facing Arizona and build relationships designed to support leadership development and community involvement, according to a press release.
“At a time when Arizona is experiencing tremendous growth and change, we need leaders who are prepared to listen, learn and work alongside others,” Valley Leadership Catalyze Program Manager Carrie Larson said. “Class 6 represents the kind of leadership our state needs, people with different perspectives who share a commitment to showing up and helping move Arizona forward.”
The program’s kickoff event featured a keynote address by Arizona State University President Michael Crow, who encouraged participants to consider their role in shaping the state’s future.
Catalyze is designed to provide leadership development opportunities for individuals at different stages of their personal and professional journeys while strengthening connections among community leaders throughout Arizona.
“As someone who grew up in Phoenix, I’m excited to join the Valley Leadership Catalyze Class because it represents a unique opportunity to deepen my understanding of the Valley, connect with purpose-driven leaders, and challenge myself to think more broadly about how I can create meaningful impact across our region. I look forward to learning from diverse perspectives, building lasting relationships, and developing the skills needed to help drive positive change throughout the communities we serve,” Goodmans Vice President of Sales Erica Tricco said.
During the next six months, participants will develop leadership skills, explore issues affecting Arizona and connect with Valley Leadership’s network of alumni and community leaders. Graduates will have opportunities to remain involved through the organization’s Impact Maker initiative and other community engagement programs.
Valley Leadership also recognized the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation for supporting the Catalyze program and its leadership development efforts.
