Nearly 150 HonorHealth Ambassadors — including CEO Todd LaPorte — participated in a day of community service during a ‘Give Back Day’ observed by the health care provider.
Here’s a breakdown of the places and organizations that team members worked with:
- Creighton Community Foundation Inc. where they help build stronger neighborhoods and schools through service, community support and better education programs. Ambassador volunteers packed and distributed food boxes to support local families in need.
- Operation Fix It helps Scottsdale homeowners in need by addressing health and safety concerns, and Ambassadors pitched in to clean yards, pull weeds, and paint a senior homeowner’s house.
- HonorHealth Desert Mission Food Bank provides hope and nourishment to underserved families. Volunteers helped distribute complete Thanksgiving meals for more than 1,500 families during the annual Turkey Distribution event.
- Orchard Community Learning Center — Creating sustainable food systems for South Phoenix families. Volunteers worked on a new irrigation infrastructure by moving river rocks, spreading mulch, and forming pathways.
- Carol G. Peck School – Alhambra school district has many schools in the valley in need of revitalization, including the Carol G. Peck school. Volunteers painted tetherball and four-square courts to refresh the playground for kids to enjoy.
- Friends of Deer Valley Neighborhood Cleanup — Supporting community growth and development around the Deer Valley area. Volunteers cleaned up trash along 27th Avenue to beautify the area for residents and businesses.
- Feed My Starving Children — Fighting childhood hunger worldwide by turning hope into meals. Volunteers packed 188 boxes, providing 40,608 meals to feed 111 kids for an entire year.
In all, there are more than 5,300 HonorHealth Ambassadors who volunteer their time throughout the year to support community causes, HonorHealth officials tell the Digital Free Press.
