P.B. Bell is marking its 50th anniversary, reflecting on five decades of multifamily development, acquisitions and property management in Arizona.

Founded May 10, 1976, by Phil Bell, the company has grown from a small operation into a regional firm that has developed or acquired more than 11,500 units and managed more than 55,000 units across the state, while employing thousands and supporting local charities, according to a press release.

“We started small and ended up growing into a sizable company comprised of a group of skilled people who are dedicated to the industry,” founder Phil Bell said. “At P.B. Bell we ensure everything is done in a quality way, and our team has always been committed to doing so.”

Company leaders said the organization has emphasized relationships with residents, employees, vendors and the community throughout its history.

“I’m just proud of the people,” Chairman Chapin Bell said. “I think that we’ve created a great organization, and it’s because of the people.”
In recognition of the company’s role in the region’s multifamily housing sector, the city of Scottsdale has proclaimed May 10, 2026, as “P.B. Bell Day.” The company also launched a yearlong initiative, “50 Ways We Show We Care,” focused on community engagement, including resident events, charitable contributions and volunteer efforts.

As the first CEO outside the Bell family, Justin — who leads the company — has emphasized continuity in the organization’s approach.

“The most important thing I can do is make sure employees, residents, clients, investors, and the community as a whole are comfortable with the fact that P.B. Bell is still the same P.B. Bell they’ve always known,” P.B. Bell Chief Executive Officer Justin said. “That’s my number one priority.”

As the company marks its 50th anniversary, leadership said it is also focused on future growth, including the use of new technologies and continued development of housing communities across Arizona.
