Councilmember Alicia Goforth has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2026 Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee Federal Advocacy Committee.
Ms. Goforth was elected to a one‑year term and will provide strategic direction for the group’s federal advocacy agenda, including issues related to roads, safety, transit, rail and bridges, according to a press release.
“Smart transportation policy is essential to Mesa’s quality of life, public safety and economic growth,” Ms. Goforth said. “I’m honored to serve on this committee, to help ensure cities like ours have a strong voice in federal infrastructure decisions that shape residents’ daily lives. I look forward to advocating for practical, locally informed solutions that improve safety, expand opportunity and keep Mesa moving forward.”
As a committee member, Ms. Goforth will help shape NLC’s federal policy positions and advocate on behalf of cities, towns and villages before Congress, with the President’s administration and within Mesa.
“The National League of Cities’ federal advocacy committees are the voice of America’s 19,000 cities, towns and villages to leaders in Washington,” National League of Cities President Kevin Kramer, councilmember from Louisville, Kentucky, said. “I am thrilled to work with Councilmember Goforth and look forward to supporting their goals and ideas as they serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee this year, helping to strengthen the partnership between local and federal leaders.”
