Girls Rule Foundation is opening registration to the Arizona Impact Initiative.

The Arizona Impact Initiative is available to the first 100 in-state high schools that register by the Dec. 10 deadline and will start in January. The program combines an after-school empowerment and leadership club, an in-school community service project and a concluding live summit.

It is designed specifically for young women in grades 9-12, educating and empowering them to build a foundation of skill sets that help them thrive.

The one-time initiative will run from January to April and is open to all high schools, including public, private, charter and home schools, according to a press release.

“Statistics show that young women want to be successful in their careers and want to lead more, but most girls are missing crucial leadership skills,” said Girls Rule Foundation Co-founder and Program Creator Dena Patton.

“By advocating for our schools to participate in programs like the Arizona Impact Initiative, we can equip young women during critical developmental years with essential skills that help them build themselves, build their future and feel ready for challenges and life beyond high school.”

The after-school club will meet an hour a week, exploring the provided curriculum rooted in three key elements: The 12 Leadership Principles, a community service project and goal setting. Each week, girls will learn one leadership principle through discussion and activities, from confidence building and a positive mindset to teamwork and resilience, while collaborating on a project that uplifts their school.

The Arizona Impact Initiative will run independently at participating high schools, with all schools to unite on April 26 at Impact Day, the program’s concluding celebration hosted by Tempe Union High School District.

Teens who finish the 13-week program will earn a certificate of completion to add to their resumes.
High schools interested in the program can find out more details and sign up to register online at impactinschools.org.
