Back by popular demand, Ballet Arizona is thrilled to present Ib Andersen’s Swan Lake at Symphony Hall from Oct. 24 to Oct. 27.
Out of all the great classics, Swan Lake remains the quintessential ballet of all time Ballet Arizona representatives tell the Digital Free Press.
A passionate romantic tragedy, Swan Lake depicts the heartache and woe of two doomed lovers and the evil forces that come between them. Arizonans can experience the famous ballet known for its iconic white and black swans and the glory of Tchaikovsky’s music performed live by The Phoenix Symphony.
“For more than 100 years, Swan Lake has remained a classic for many reasons. It is a celebration of artistry and beauty in ballet, with its combination of storytelling, emotional expression, and skillful mastery of classical ballet technique—not to mention it’s set to one of the most beautiful music scores ever created,” said Daniela Cardim, the artistic director of Ballet Arizona.
“It’s no wonder that it holds many special memories for dancers and audiences alike.”
Ballet Arizona is presenting its Studio Spotlight performance for Swan Lake 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Ballet Arizona’s Dorrance Theater. During this add-on event, attendees can experience a behind-the-scenes look at this production as they attend an in-studio rehearsal with the dancers, learn more about the production from Ballet Arizona’s artistic team, and engage in a Q&A.
