Construction is underway on Basecamp, a resident amenity and gathering destination planned for the Saddleback master-planned community in Peoria.
Basecamp, a $10 million project within the 5,300-acre Saddleback community, is expected to open in summer 2027 and will serve as the community’s social and recreational hub, according to a press release.
The approximately 16-acre site will feature a variety of indoor and outdoor amenities designed for recreation, fitness and community events. Planned features include a resort-style pool, a splash pad, outdoor lounges, grilling areas, food truck space and a 10,000-square-foot event lawn.
Additional amenities will include a quarter-mile bike pump track, a bike barn and outfitter, a climbing boulder, a 200-step fitness challenge and a dedicated fitness programming space.
The project team includes Collaborative Design Studio as architect, RVi as landscape architect and Primak Construction Group as general contractor.

It’s a place where residents can come together, stay active, enjoy the outdoors and build connections,” said Carlee Ryan, vice president of development at Castle Hill Partners. “Our partners at Collaborative Design Studio and RVi knocked it out of the park, creating a thoughtful design that works in harmony with the Sonoran Desert. The start of construction marks a significant step forward as we continue bringing Saddleback to life.”
Construction of Basecamp follows the recent opening of Taylor Morrison model homes. Lennar model homes are expected to open soon as Saddleback prepares to welcome its first residents this fall.
Developed by Austin-based Castle Hill Partners, Saddleback is located about 40 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix and about five miles from Lake Pleasant. The community is situated near major employment centers including TSMC Arizona, BNSF Industrial Park and the planned Amkor facility, as well as recreational destinations such as Quintero Golf Club and Scorpion Bay Marina.
More than 60 miles of trails are planned throughout the community, including the 13-mile Saddleback Trail, which will connect several of the development’s scenic high points.
