Arizona Science Center is expanding its lineup of interactive experiences this fall with two new attractions designed to engage guests through hands-on exploration, creativity and scientific discovery.
The additions include CaveScape, now featuring Hidden Habitats: Life in the Caves, and a reimagined CREATE makerspace. The new experiences invite visitors to explore cave ecosystems, encounter live animals and participate in design and engineering activities, according to a press release.
CaveScape adds live animals, cave science
CaveScape returns with the addition of Hidden Habitats: Life in the Caves, creating a combined experience that explores underground environments through both interactive play and live animal encounters.
Guests can navigate a network of tunnels and caves constructed entirely from packing tape while learning about engineering, physics and design concepts behind the exhibit. The experience highlights how everyday materials can be transformed into large-scale structures through innovative design.
Visitors also can explore Hidden Habitats: Life in the Caves, which features live cave-dwelling and cave-adapted animals, including Egyptian fruit bats, chinchillas, a monitor lizard, a red-tailed green rat snake, tailless whip scorpions, vinegaroons and geckos. Educational displays examine how the animals survive and adapt to underground environments.
CaveScape featuring Hidden Habitats: Life in the Caves is available as an add-on to general admission and is included with Discovery Pass and Member Pass admissions.
CREATE reimagines makerspace experience
Arizona Science Center has also introduced a redesigned CREATE makerspace aimed at encouraging creativity, collaboration and problem-solving.
The space draws inspiration from inventor workshops, art studios, scientific laboratories and community gathering places, offering guests opportunities to design, build and experiment using a variety of tools and materials.
Visitors can participate in free activities such as building challenges and doodling stations, while paid workshops provide more in-depth instruction and hands-on experience with specialized equipment.
The makerspace is designed for guests of all ages and encourages participants to share ideas, collaborate on projects and explore both traditional crafting tools and modern technology.
