Royse Contemporary presents “Imagination or Reality,” an exhibition examining visions shaped by truth and illusion through the work of seven artists.
The show explores the blurred line between imagination and reality, inviting viewers to consider the nature of truth, perception and possibility through visual storytelling, abstraction and conceptual expression.
“Typically we define imagination as the ability of the mind to create images and ideas that are not immediately present to the senses, whereas reality is the state of things as they actually exist,” said Ms. Nicole Royse, owner and curator of Royse Contemporary.
The exhibition features work by Peter Brian Klein, James Anthony Peters, Cam DeCaussin, Marilyn Szabo, Barbara Kemp Cowlin, Lee Davis and Gennaro Garcia. According to a press release, the artists reflect on their individual perspectives and creative processes while exploring these themes. The exhibition includes collage, drawing, painting, photography and mixed media.
“These artists both typify and transcend the categories of imagination and reality, creating original artwork that demonstrates a mastery of medium and an authentic voice,” Ms. Royse said.
“Imagination or Reality” aims to foster dialogue and connection through the artists’ use of imagery, diverse styles and distinct voices. While each artist’s work varies aesthetically, the exhibition seeks to create a cohesive narrative through their originality and visual impact.
The exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, Dec. 28, according to a press release.
