Abrazo West Campus has completed construction on a new hybrid operating room, a nearly $7 million investment that combines the sterile environment of a traditional OR with the advanced imaging capabilities of a cardiac catheterization lab.
The new space allows surgeons to perform complex, minimally invasive cardiovascular and vascular surgeries, as well as electrophysiology procedures, in a single location. Patient procedures are scheduled to begin in August, according to a press release.
“By giving us the option to provide both minimally invasive and traditional open treatment in a single space, the hybrid OR will enable us to tailor our treatment plans for patients who may not otherwise have successful outcomes,” said Dr. Stacey Hancock, a board-certified vascular surgeon with Abrazo West.
A key feature of the hybrid OR is the Azurion 7 M20 with FlexArm, a ceiling-mounted imaging system developed by Philips Healthcare. The system’s C-arm rotates on eight axes, allowing medical teams to perform imaging from multiple angles with both 2D and 3D visualizations.
“The new hybrid OR is another example of how we are meeting our commitment to invest in quality, high-acuity care that West Valley residents can access close to home,” said Hans Driessnack, CEO of Abrazo West Campus. “Patients no longer need to travel out of the area for these kinds of complex surgical procedures,” Mr. Driessnack said.
Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 30 to mark the completion of the hybrid OR.
