Abrazo West Campus has unveiled its newly upgraded catheterization lab, marking a significant advancement in cardiac care, health care officials say.

The cath lab modernization project began in 2023 and has concluded with this $3 million renovation, equipping both cath labs with state-of-the-art technology designed to enhance patient outcomes and procedural efficiency, according to  press release.

The upgraded cath lab features a mounted Phillips Azurion C Arm, capable of rotating on no less than eight axes. This innovative imaging system provides virtually unlimited flexibility for performing 2D and 3D visualizations, allowing medical professionals to conduct a wide range of procedures with precision, Abrazo Health officials tell the Digital Free Press

Dr. Richard Pham, director of cardiology at Abrazo West, shared the importance of this upgrade.

“We can do things faster, more efficiently, and safer with the new equipment,” he said.

The renovation includes brand new high-definition screens, updated tables, and advanced lighting, all designed to support a variety of cardiac procedures, including those for heart attacks, heart failure, stent placements and vascular disease.

Dr. Pham says the number of procedures doctors perform in the hospital’s cath labs has grown 58 percent since 2022.

“Abrazo West Campus is committed to continued investment in advanced technology that helps bring access to high acuity care right here in the West Valley. This Cath Lab upgrade is the latest   iteration of this commitment, and we are excited to see the positive impact it has for the community in the hands of our skilled medical staff and dedicated team members,” says Hans Driessnack, Abrazo West Campus CEO.
