Scottsdale Recovery Center was recently awarded $232,878 from Maricopa County in a $4.3 million dollar opioid settlement funding 17 local organizations working to combat substance use and its devastating impacts on individuals and families.
This funding aligns with Maricopa County’s substance use prevention & response strategic plan, according to a press release.
“The opioid and polysubstance use crisis continues to impact families across Maricopa County, and these funds allow us to take meaningful action,” said Thomas Galvin, chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, District 2. “By providing more resources to organizations who are on the front lines of this battle, we are building a stronger, more coordinated response to help those affected.”
Scottsdale Recovery Center will use these funds to expand its capacity to connect uninsured and underinsured individuals and families with essential recovery support services. The funding will specifically support SRC’s peer support program and its social determinants of health resource center, the press release states.
The peer support program trains individuals with lived experience in recovery to provide mentorship, guidance, and encouragement to those currently facing substance use challenges.
“We are incredibly grateful for this funding, which will allow us to enhance our housing and treatment programs to better serve those struggling with substance use disorder,” said Lee Yaiva, CEO of Scottsdale Recovery Center. “Many individuals and families in our community struggle to access treatment due to a lack of insurance and we welcome these individuals, assess their needs, and connect them with the right resources to begin their recovery journey.”
