Scottsdale City Council has made good on one financial promise to voters who checked the box in the affirmative during the 2019 Scottsdale General Bond Election.

At its June 7 public hearing at City Hall, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd., Scottsdale City Council unanimously approved pre-construction services contract with Core Construction to the tune of $90,000 on an annual basis beginning in fiscal year 2024-25 for expansions at the Scottsdale City Jail, downtown police substation.

The Scottsdale Jail is at 3700 N. 75th St.

A part of the November 2019 voter-approved capital improvement bond projects, city officials report the city jail and downtown Scottsdale police headquarters are in dire need of repair and space capacities are at their limitations.

City officials report the downtown Scottsdale Jail and police substation are at capacity and expansions are in need to meet the needs of growing operations in and around downtown Scottsdale.
