Aviation Electrician’s Mate Kaylee Ramirez, a Phoenix native, was recognized as Airwing Warfighter of the Week aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington on July 15.
The Airwing Warfighter of the Week program recognizes Sailors selected by their leadership for accomplishments and contributions to the command, with the recognition presented by the ship’s captain, according to a press release.
“My favorite is being part of the one percent,” Ramirez said. “Being able to serve and see the peace we bring to every family and to every person in the United States.”
Ramirez serves with Carrier Air Wing 5’s Strike Fighter Squadron 27. As a line division senior plane captain, she coordinated flight schedule assignments and daily rotations for plane captains, contributing to 244 sorties and 477 flight hours.
She also served as line division supervisor, leading seven Sailors in completing 180 maintenance actions totaling 559 maintenance man-hours.
