Hamway: My final argument for your vote for mayor of the Town of Paradise Valley

The ballots have arrived and I encourage everyone to exercise your right to vote. I first ran for Town Council 20 years ago, and during that time, I had the honor to work with five different mayors.

This perspective separates me from the other candidates and gives me a wider view of knowing what’s possible while also being able to appreciate what’s changed.

In the last year, our town staff has seen an unprecedented amount of turnover, and the institutional knowledge at the staff level is at an all-time low. And, it’s also no secret that there is tension and a loss of trust on the council. I am running for mayor to rebuild that loss at the staff level and to rebuild the trust between council members.

If elected mayor, my focus will always be on what matters to our residents, including public safety, low taxes, high property values and a transparent government. Our police department leads in technology and innovation and we are in great shape currently to provide excellent service.

Our limited government model keeps our taxes low, and a dedication to maintaining our low-density residential lifestyle keeps our property values high. Government transparency is always the goal, and I would find new ways to engage with our residents.

I have a proven track record of finding solutions to complicated issues. Throughout my career, I have successfully led groups toward achieving shared goals. Whether I was leading a team of programers, parents, residents or neighbors my success in getting things done puts me heads above the other candidates. My many years of service to our Town, plus my experience in working with the legislature, and other city and county officials in representing Paradise Valley makes me the best choice for mayor. In closing I offer this quote from my friend Trish Loffer:

“Mary’s traits will translate well to the job of mayor: a proven leader, a community builder and a problem solver. As a friend, I know Mary to be steadfast, discreet, loyal and always respectful in a chaotic world that throws many people off course. Please join me in voting for Mary Hamway for mayor.”
