The Arizona Digital Free Press is hosting a mayoral debate Wednesday, Oct. 2, from noon to 1 p.m. at Scottsdale City Hall, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.
The event will be televised and streamed live on public access, ensuring that every Scottsdale resident has the opportunity to witness this critical discussion.
The debate will feature candidates incumbent Mayor David Ortega and challenger Lisa Borowsky, who will present their visions for the city’s future and address pressing issues facing the community. The candidates will have the opportunity to share their plans for economic development, education, public safety, and other key areas of concern in a moderated debate with timed responses and retorts.
“We are thrilled to host this important debate and offer Scottsdale residents a platform to hear directly from the candidates seeking to lead their city,” said Terrance Thornton, founder of the Arizona Digital Free Press. “Our goal is to facilitate a productive and informative debate that empowers voters to make informed decisions on Election Day.”
Mr. Thornton emphasizes the significance of an engaged and knowledgeable electorate in a healthy democracy.
“I believe a quality debate — and candidate performance — will provide a unique opportunity for Scottsdale residents to engage with the candidates, ask questions before and after — all while gaining a deeper understanding of their positions on various issues,” he said in a prepared statement.
Mr. Thornton will serve as moderator of the Oct. 2 Scottsdale mayoral debate at City Hall.
