Competitive wiffle ball is coming back to Scottsdale with the inaugural Spring Classic, which is a one-day Big League Wiffle Ball tournament taking place at Miracle League Arizona this March.
The event merges fierce wiffle ball competition with a fundraiser for a great cause, raising money to further Miracle League Arizona’s mission of providing a fun, safe and inclusive baseball experience for fans with special needs, according to a press release.
The event, set for 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, March 23 at Miracle League Arizona, 11130 E. Cholla St., will feature eight teams with three-to-six players apiece battling it out for the top title.
“The Spring Classic is more than just a competition, although we definitely anticipate all teams bringing their A-game,” said Logan Rose, who founded Big League Wiffle Ball in his own backyard in 2020 as a means of keeping athletes active and engaged during the pandemic.
“It’s also about raising money for the Miracle League and the great work they’re doing to make sure all fans get to enjoy a ball game, regardless of special needs or abilities.”
Participating teams supply their own bats and balls for the Spring Classic.
