Healthcare workers are needed in every part of the medical field and the HonorHealth Summer Teen Volunteer Program is a great way to engage with the community while gaining an understanding of the healthcare industry and future career opportunities.
Teen volunteers will focus on customer service, supporting patients and their families, and assisting team members at HonorHealth medical Centers and Desert Mission, according to a press release. In addition, summer teen volunteers will take part in Meet. Explore. Discover. (M.E.D.) sessions which will provide healthcare-related education and career exploration opportunities. There are more than 20 M.E.D. sessions available that include discussions with physicians, researchers and clinical staff and tours of our facilities.
The seven-week program, which runs between June 2 and July 18, is open to teens who have completed their freshman year in high school and who are able to commit to two 4-hour shifts each week between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Additional information and an online application can be found at honorhealth.com by searching ‘teen volunteers’. The program is very popular, fills up fast, and not all students that apply will be accepted. Please note, there are no positions that perform direct patient care. Teens are not permitted in patient rooms to assist medical professionals due to confidentiality regulations.
Applications will be accepted until noon on Feb. 26.
