The city of Scottsdale has selected Holly Peralta as its new senior director of communications following a competitive recruitment process.

Ms. Peralta brings more than 20 years of communications experience and has served the city of Scottsdale for more than 13 years in communications leadership roles. Most recently, she served as interim senior director, overseeing media relations, executive communications, strategic communications, employee communications, marketing and digital communications.

As senior director, Ms. Peralta will lead the city’s Office of Communications, which serves as the central communications resource for the organization and supports city leadership, departments, employees, residents and community stakeholders.

The Office of Communications provides communications support across the organization and serves as a resource for city leadership, departments and the public, according to a press release.

“Holly has consistently demonstrated strategic leadership, sound judgment and a deep commitment to public service,” City Manager Greg Caton said. “She understands Scottsdale, has earned the trust of leaders across the organization and brings a strong vision for the future of communications. Her ability to build relationships, navigate complex issues and develop talented teams made her the clear choice to lead this important function.”

Ms. Peralta began her career in local government communications with the city of Mesa, where she worked in public safety and economic development communications.

She later joined Scottsdale and helped communicate major city initiatives, including public safety programs, water resource planning, transportation projects, economic development efforts, tourism initiatives, voter-approved bond projects and community events.

Throughout her career, Ms. Peralta has supported executive leadership, departments and employees during periods of organizational growth and transition while helping expand the city’s communications capabilities.

“I am honored by the opportunity to serve Scottsdale in this capacity,” Ms. Peralta said. “This community has been an important part of my professional journey, and I am grateful for the trust placed in me by City Manager Greg Caton and the executive leadership team. Scottsdale has an exceptional story to tell, and I look forward to continuing to support the outstanding work being done across the organization.”

An Arizona native, Ms. Peralta began her career as a journalist before moving into public-sector communications.

She graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and later earned a master’s degree in counseling and human relations from Northern Arizona University.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Ms. Peralta has remained active in community and nonprofit service. She previously served as communications chair for the Lymphoma Research Foundation board and has served on the boards of the Arizona Museum of Natural History and the Ross Farnsworth-East Valley Family YMCA.

Ms. Peralta is also a graduate of Scottsdale Leadership Class 31.

In her new role, Ms. Peralta will focus on strategic communications, brand governance, accessibility initiatives and professional development within the communications field.
