Street League Skateboarding returns to Tempe for competition at Mullett Arena

Staff Reports | Happenings & Events

Street League Skateboarding will return to Arizona on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at Mullett Arena in Tempe, marking a stop in the professional street skateboarding competition series.

The event will highlight Arizona’s skateboarding community and feature a custom course design reflecting local culture, landscapes and skateboarding influences, according to a press release.

The roster includes Chandler native Dashawn Jordan, a professional skateboarder whose work extends into music and fashion. Jordan recently released his “Copperhead” Nike SB Dunk, inspired by Arizona Diamondbacks colors and desert wildlife, and co-founded Faces Skate Shop in Tempe.

Also scheduled to compete is Jagger Eaton, who trained at his family’s Mesa-based facility, Kids That Rip, before competing internationally. Eaton earned a bronze medal in street skateboarding at the Tokyo Olympics and later won silver at the Paris Games.

Tempe native Paige Heyn is also expected to participate. The professional skateboarder and 2024 Paralympian competed for Team USA and finished sixth in women’s street skateboarding at the Paris Games.

The SLS Tempe Takeover marks a return to one of the league’s earliest host locations, with the event focused on showcasing athletes and the local skateboarding community.

“Returning to Tempe after more than a decade is incredibly special for SLS because Arizona has always been one of the most influential skateboarding communities in the world,” said Tal Cooperman, chief marketing officer at Thrill Sports.

“This isn’t just about bringing an event back. It’s about celebrating the culture, talent, creativity, and hometown pride that helped shape modern skateboarding. From Dashawn and Jagger to Paige and the next generation coming up behind them, Arizona continues to produce some of the most authentic athletes in skateboarding, and we wanted this takeover to feel like it could only happen in Tempe.”
