Joe Greenberg, chief operations officer of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, has joined the board of directors of Advance Community.
Mr. Greenberg aims to help the organization have a greater impact on the communities it serves.

A Phoenix-based nonprofit organization that builds optimal health in under-resourced communities, Advance works to resolve some of the most important issues impacting the people of Arizona and across the globe including access to medical care, nutrition, community development and health education, according to a press release.
As the chief operating officer of AZ Blue, Mr. Greenberg oversees growth strategies and profit and loss performance for all business segments, including individual, commercial, medicare, federal employees, and medicaid. Additionally, he leads customer experience strategies for the organization.
Before his tenure at AZ Blue Greenberg served as vice president of Group and Partnerships at Sidecar Health, a health-tech startup now valued at over $1 billion. His experience also includes leadership roles at Blue Shield of California, Anthem Blue Cross, Health Net, and Blue Shield of California.
