Abrazo Central Campus has invested more than $10 million in advanced medical technology and critical infrastructure upgrades over the last 18 months to support patient care and meet growing community needs.
According to a press release, the 206-bed acute care and teaching hospital recently acquired its second da Vinci Xi robotic-assisted surgical system, which allows surgeons greater precision and control for minimally invasive procedures. The system is used in specialties including general surgery, urology, gynecology and thoracic procedures. Surgeons undergo specialized training to operate the platform.
“We will remain at the forefront of surgical innovation at ACC to handle increased patient volumes and provide exceptional care, but also to continue to attract the best doctors who want to be part of the Abrazo family,” said Dr. Varun Chakravorty, chief of staff at Abrazo Central Hospital.
In addition to technology upgrades, Abrazo Central — open since 1963 — has completed a full overhaul of its sterile processing department, which cleans, inspects, sterilizes and delivers surgical instruments and medical devices.
“Our ongoing investment in the infrastructure of the hospital — although less visible to patients and visitors — is critical to our success as a vital healthcare provider in our area and reinforces our commitment to quality and patient safety,” said Mr. Gregory Pearson, CEO of Abrazo Central Campus.
Other improvements include replacing and modernizing heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, which help control temperature, pressure, humidity and air quality in operating and isolation rooms. These systems are essential for preventing airborne infections and maintaining aseptic conditions during surgeries.
“Continuously investing in and enhancing these systems is essential to our ability to serve our community and benefits patients and physicians by helping maintain the strong foundation we have built to ensure the highest level of care at Abrazo Central,” added Mr. Pearson.
