The 14th annual ABC15 Telethon, benefiting Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund, raised $594,810 on Wednesday, April 15.
The fundraising total supports care, programs and services for patients and families across Arizona, according to a press release.
A longstanding part of the telethon is the “Hero for Hope” donation, recognized when supporters give $20 per month or make a one-time gift of $240 or more. For each qualifying donation, a “Superhero Sidekick” stuffed animal is delivered to a child in the hospital.
Gifts to Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund support investments in equipment, research, clinical programs and family-centered services for children in need of medical treatment. Support from ABC15 and donors helps sustain care for children and families in Arizona and beyond.
“We’re incredibly thankful for the generosity shown by our viewers and community partners,” Anita Helt, vice president and regional general manager at ABC15 Arizona, said. “Their support helps Phoenix Children’s continue providing exceptional care for children and families who need it most. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of Arizona families.”
The telethon included a phone bank staffed by sponsors and community volunteers, along with stories highlighting programs and services such as Child Life, Language Assistance and Volunteer Services. ABC15’s Sonoran Living, hosted by Terri Ouellette and Heidi Goitia, dedicated its broadcast to the telethon, while ABC15 News provided coverage across its newscasts and social media platforms.
“We are sincerely grateful to ABC15 and everyone who contributed to this year’s Telethon,” Steve Schnall, executive vice president and chief development, marketing and communications officer of Phoenix Children’s, said. “The stories shared throughout the day reflect the real and lasting impact donor support has on our patients and families. Fundraising efforts like the ABC15 Telethon help make it possible for Phoenix Children’s to continue delivering world-class care.”
Each dollar raised during the ABC15 Telethon supports care, programs and services provided to patients and families.
