Mesa has appointed Joe Giudice as its new Water Resources director.
He stepped into the role Feb. 23 following the retirement of Chris Hassert, according to a press release.
“The department plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable water service for Mesa residents and businesses,” City Manager Scott Butler said.
“Joe brings decades of public sector leadership experience and a deep commitment to service. His experience in utilities, environmental programs and public works makes him exceptionally well‑suited to lead Mesa Water Resources. We’re confident he will build on the strong foundation established by Chris and our Water Resources team.”
Mr. Giudice brings more than three decades of leadership in environmental quality, public works and utility services, with experience focused on protecting public health and delivering essential city services. He most recently served as Mesa’s deputy solid waste director.
Before joining Mesa, he completed a career with the City of Phoenix, retiring as public works director after serving as assistant water services director, director of environmental programs and fleet services director.
Mr. Giudice began his public service career at the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, where he developed an interest in environmental stewardship and community health. Throughout his career, he has emphasized team development and reliable, customer‑focused utility operations.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the residents of my hometown of Mesa alongside the dedicated and talented professionals in our Water Resources Department,” Mr. Giudice said.
“Our team is focused on safeguarding our community’s water supply, protecting public health and ensuring every drop is delivered and treated safely and reliably. I look forward to continuing our responsible stewardship of this vital resource for Mesa today and for generations to come.”
