
Phoenix Parks seeks public feedback on tenets of master plan

Phoenix Parks and Recreation officials recently announced the launch of its master plan process, which representatives there say will guide the future development and management of open space and municipal facilities.
Officials at City Hall, 200 W. Washington St., report the master plan includes key components to encourage public engagement. Phoenix Parks and Recreation officials say they are committed to gathering meaningful feedback from residents, stakeholders, and park users.
Officials at City Hall have published a website: parksmasterplanphx.com for residents o learn more about getting involved in the master plan process.
In addition to public engagement, officials at City Hall tell the Digital Free Press, the master plan process will also focus on water use and public safety by incorporating sustainable practices into park design and implementing principles focused on keeping the public safe.
“Our parks and recreation facilities touch every person in our community, providing spaces for connection, recreation, and tranquility,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said in a prepared statement. “Launching our master plan is a crucial step in ensuring that these amenities remain active, cared for, and accessible for future generations. We are committed to creating a plan and a vision that reflects the needs and hopes of all Phoenix residents.”
Parks and Recreation Director Cynthia Aguilar echoed a similar sentiment.
“Our goal is not only to create a beautiful park system but also one that meets the needs and desires of our diverse community,” she said. “Meaningful feedback from residents is crucial in achieving this goal.”
