On Saturday, Nov. 22, more than 100 HonorHealth Ambassadors, including Executive Vice President John Neil, MD, volunteered for the seventh annual Ambassador Give Back Day, partnering with nonprofits across the Valley to support families, revitalize neighborhoods and fight hunger.
Give Back Day was created to strengthen the communities where HonorHealth team members live and work. This year’s efforts spanned multiple cities and projects, according to a press release.
Where teams served:
Phoenix – At HonorHealth Desert Mission Food Bank, volunteers packed and distributed Thanksgiving meals for hundreds of local families.
Scottsdale – With Operation Fix It, Ambassadors cleaned yards, pulled weeds and repainted the home of a senior homeowner in need.
South Phoenix – At the Orchard Community Learning Center, teams worked in the community garden, spreading mulch, planting and clearing space for year-round food access.
Glendale – Through the Glendale Community Volunteer Program, volunteers refreshed Grand Linear Park with a large-scale cleanup to support neighborhood pride and safety.
Phoenix (Creighton School District area) – At Creighton Community Foundation, Ambassadors packed and distributed food boxes for local families.
Tempe – Volunteers partnered with Feed My Starving Children to hand-pack meals for children facing hunger around the world.
Mesa – At House of Refuge, volunteers prepped and repainted transitional housing to give a family experiencing crisis a safe, welcoming home for the holidays.
Across every site, HonorHealth team members demonstrated care for neighbors beyond the walls of medical centers. In all, more than 5,300 HonorHealth Ambassadors volunteer throughout the year to support causes they care about, said Dr. Neil.
