As Hunter Contracting Co. approaches its 65th anniversary, the company is forging ahead with bold, future-focused initiatives that reflect its evolution from a traditional civil contractor to a comprehensive infrastructure partner.

More than builders of roads and utilities, Hunter has become a trusted force in shaping Arizona’s essential infrastructure — from parks and water systems to wastewater treatment plants and vertical buildings that serve the state’s expanding communities.

In a strategic move to support this growth, Hunter has elevated five of its longtime leaders — two to senior vice president and three to vice president — marking a significant evolution of its executive leadership.

“The promotions reflect the company’s long-standing belief in growing from within and investing in people who understand both the technical demands and cultural values that define Hunter,” said Max Taddei, CEO and owner. “These individuals have been instrumental to our success over the years. They don’t just manage work, they model our values, lead with integrity, and shape the future of our company.”

Meet the newly appointed leaders:

• Bob Carlson, Senior Vice President — A 30-year Hunter veteran and Arizona State University alum, Carlson oversees pricing, marketing, and construction sales. His leadership has helped the firm win and execute major projects across Arizona. He also serves as president of the Arizona Chapter of the American Society of Professional Estimators.

• Dig Karki, P.E., Senior Vice President — Karki joined Hunter in 2010. With nearly three decades of engineering and construction experience, he brings seasoned leadership, technical precision and a strong commitment to client satisfaction and operational integrity. He holds a master’s degree in construction from ASU and is known for delivering complex projects with a focus on innovation, team development and continuous improvement.

•Ian Shantz, Vice President — With 26 years in the field, Shantz has led transportation and park projects throughout the Phoenix metro area. A University of Wyoming graduate, he specializes in fast-tracked delivery methods including CMAR and design-build.

• Adam Sedgeman, P.E., Vice President —  An advocate for innovation, Sedgeman has championed the adoption of digital tools across the company. He holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona, and his strong technical background and commitment to staff mentorship make him a strategic asset on large transportation and other complex infrastructure development projects.

• Rob Anderson, Vice President — With four decades of experience, Anderson brings deep operational knowledge in irrigation, utilities, and site development. His practical leadership has shaped some of the company’s most demanding field operations.

At Hunter, leadership is defined by stewardship, not hierarchy. The company has a long-standing tradition of elevating internal talent, ensuring that those who lead have walked in the boots of the teams they now guide.

“Promotions at Hunter aren’t just about new titles—they’re about passing the torch to those who live our values every day,” said Mr. Taddei. “This group will help lead us through the next chapter, grounded in trust, vision, and a shared commitment to doing things right.”
