Valley Leadership has named Ambassador Cindy McCain and Derrick Hall as the 77th Arizona Leaders of the Year, recognizing their contributions to Arizona through leadership and community service.

The annual award honors Arizonans who have made a lasting impact through leadership and service. Ms. McCain and Mr. Hall were selected for their work in their respective fields and communities, as well as their ability to bring people together and advance initiatives that benefit others, according to a press release.

“Cindy and Derrick have each used their leadership to serve others and to have meaningful impact,” said Dave Brown, CEO of Valley Leadership. “They think big and act big and are always ready to roll up their sleeves to pitch in on issues that matter. We’re proud to recognize all they have accomplished and the example they continue to set for leaders across our state.”

Ms. McCain is a businesswoman, philanthropist, diplomat and humanitarian who has served in leadership roles with numerous humanitarian organizations. From 2021 to 2023, she served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture. In 2023, she became executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme, where she has focused on issues including hunger, displacement, humanitarian access and food security.

Mr. Hall, president, CEO and general partner of the Arizona Diamondbacks, has led the organization for more than two decades. During his tenure, the team has made four postseason appearances, including a National League championship. He also has overseen initiatives related to fan experience, community engagement and charitable giving. Since its founding, the Arizona Diamondbacks organization has contributed more than $100 million to charitable causes.

In addition to his role with the Diamondbacks, Mr. Hall has participated in civic, economic development and philanthropic initiatives throughout Arizona.

Ms. McCain and Mr. Hall will be recognized at an awards reception hosted by John and Kathleen Graham from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2026, at Paradise Valley Country Club.
