Park Central lands dignity health lease for new cardiology center in Phoenix

Park Central has signed a new lease with Dignity Health Medical Group for 25,330 square feet on the first floor of the Burgbacher Building in Phoenix.

The facility will house one of Dignity Health’s cardiology groups and expand its presence at Park Central, according to a press release.
Dignity Health also has an office on the Third Avenue side of Park Central, along with facilities for Barrow Neurological Institute.

The center is expected to offer cardiology and subspecialty services, along with in-office diagnostic testing. The anticipated opening is in approximately 180 days in the Phoenix Medical Quarter.

“This is a major addition to Park Central and further reinforces the campus as a hub for leading-edge healthcare services,” Sharon Harper, chairman and CEO of Plaza Companies, said. “Dignity Health has been an important part of this community, and this expansion reflects both the strength of their organization and the growing demand for accessible, high-quality specialty care in Central Phoenix.”

The outpatient cardiology center is expected to include 39 exam rooms, a nuclear medicine room, two echocardiogram rooms and an infusion suite.

The practice will offer services including medical cardiology, interventional and structural cardiology, heart failure, electrophysiology and cardiovascular surgery.

The renovated space is intended to expand capacity and support coordinated care.
“Park Central provides an ideal environment for delivering integrated healthcare services,” Dr. Viren Bavishi, president of Dignity Health Medical Group, said. “This new cardiology center will allow us to better serve our patients with expanded services, advanced technology, and a convenient, centrally located setting.”

Phil Wurth of CBRE represented Dignity Health in the transaction. Margaret Lloyd and Bill Cook of Plaza Companies, along with Andrew Cheney of Lee & Associates, represented the Park Central ownership group.

“Dignity Health’s continued investment at Park Central speaks to the strength of the campus as a destination for healthcare excellence,” Steve Lindley, chief operating officer of Holualoa Companies, said. “This new cardiology center will bring critical services to the community and further enhance the dynamic mix of healthcare, education and innovation taking place here.”

Originally opened in 1957 as Arizona’s first major shopping mall, Park Central has been redeveloped into a mixed-use campus that includes healthcare, education, office and cultural uses in central Phoenix. The development is home to institutions including Creighton University’s Health Sciences Campus, Dignity Health and Barrow Neurological Institute.

Plaza Companies and Holualoa Companies redeveloped Park Central into a nearly 500,000-square-foot mixed-use development.
