JX Advanced Metals celebrated the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant Nov. 20 in Mesa.

The facility, located on 63 acres at the northeast corner of Germann and Crismon roads, is already engaged in test production, with full-scale production set to commence in early 2025, according to a press release.

Mesa Economic Development officials say the new facility will produce advanced sputtering targets for the semiconductor industry, serving an expanding customer base in the U.S. and Europe.

This new Mesa location will gradually more than double the production capacity of JX USA’s existing Chandler plant, positioning the company as a critical supplier in a rapidly growing market.

“Today’s opening marks an exciting milestone for JX Advanced Metals USA, Inc. as we extend our commitment to Mesa and the advanced materials industry,” said Mr. Takeshi Suwabe, executive officer and general manager, Thin Film Materials Division of JX Advanced Metals Corporation. “Our new Mesa facility will not only drive growth in semiconductor materials production but also serve as the center of JX USAs business in the advanced materials field in the U.S.”

In addition to Mr. Suwabe’s remarks, the ceremony featured speeches by Mesa Mayor John Giles; Mesa Councilmember Scott Somers; Devin Patterson, vice president of Business Development at the Arizona Commerce Authority; and Brian Valliere, vice president of Operations at JX USA. Kevin Peterson, vice president of Sales and Marketing at JX USA, served as master of ceremonies at the ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 20.

Mayor Giles highlighted the significance of the new facility.

“JXUSAs choice to make Mesa their manufacturing base reaffirms our city’s appeal as a hub for innovation and advanced technology, ” he said. “We are honored to support this remarkable company as it grows and contributes to the industry and local economy.”

JX USA plans to make Mesa a central hub for its U.S.-based advanced materials operations

The 273,000-square-foot plant includes expansive advanced technology production areas, collaborative office spaces, solar panel covered parking, electric vehicle charging stations, a workout center, and a welcoming garden area for employees.

The facility’s completion signals a significant step in JX Advanced Metals Corporation’s plans to make Mesa a central hub for its U.S.-based advanced materials operations.

“Today’s grand opening represents an incredible achievement not only for JX USA but for Mesas Pecos Advanced Manufacturing Zone,” said Mesa District 6 Councilmember Scott Somers. “This facility is a testament to our renewed focus on bringing high-value manufacturing jobs to the Mesa Gateway Area, and we are proud to welcome a company that will play a vital role in supporting Mesa’s economy and the global semiconductor industry.”

“We are excited to celebrate this milestone for JX Advanced Metals USA in Arizona,” said Sandra Watson, president and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “JXs state-of-the-art manufacturing facility expands JXs legacy in Arizona while furthering Arizona’s semiconductor leadership. Were grateful to JX for their continued commitment to Arizona and look forward to supporting their success.”

JX Advanced Metals Corporations choice of Mesa was influenced by Arizona’s supportive business environment, skilled workforce, and infrastructure tailored to meet the demands of the semiconductor industry, the press release stated. The company’s investment reflects its commitment to Mesa as a long-term base for growth in the semiconductor sector, providing essential materials for advanced technological manufacturing in North America and Europe.
