Scottsdale Community College is now offering a four-year degree program: Bachelor of business administration – management.

This new offering — a historic first for Scottsdale Community College — allows students to invest in their future with a bachelor’s degree while paying one-third the tuition cost of a traditional four-year state university.

SCC recently received official accreditation for its new bachelor’s degree program from the Higher Learning Commission, which conducted reviews and audits of the program to ensure quality, rigor, and readiness, SCC officials tell the Digital Free Press.

Courses will be offered starting in the Fall 2025 semester, according to a press release.

“Adding this bachelor’s degree to our curriculum exemplifies our commitment to offering high-quality, accessible education to our students,” said SCC President Dr. Eric Leshinskie.

“Equipped with a Bachelor of Business Administration and unburdened by hefty loans, more students than ever before will have access to all the opportunities that a four-year degree brings. Local employers benefit by having a new pool of highly skilled talent.”

With a streamlined curriculum and a lower cost per credit hour, SCC students can get the same quality education as comparable programs at a traditional four-year university, SCC officials contend.

SCC tuition is $97 per credit hour for 100- and 200-level classes, and $145.50 per credit hour for 300- and 400-level classes. The program is designed to be student-focused, removing traditional barriers to admission and creating more opportunities for a diverse range of applicants.

Courses will be convenient to where students live, with both online and in-person instruction available.

SCC’s small class sizes give students access to personalized support from highly qualified faculty within a tight-knit community, doing away with intimidating university campuses and cavernous lecture halls.

Designed in step with local business partners, the required courses on the degree path also emphasize real-world applicability as opposed to programs that focus on research and theoretical applications.

“The bachelor of business administration – management is the result of years of work to make high-quality, affordable education more accessible to under-served populations,” says Sue Sandblom, faculty chair of SCC’s Business department. “We are so excited to serve community college students who don’t transfer to a university after getting their two-year degrees, because of cost, location or employment requirements.”

The bachelor of business administration – management degree prepares students for leadership positions and versatile career opportunities in finance, IT, government, marketing, hospitality and human resources.
