Tempe Diablos Charities has awarded more than $650,000 in grants to over 70 local organizations.
The funding supports a wide range of causes, including education, health, arts and youth services, and reflects the Diablos’ ongoing commitment to community development, according to a press release.
To celebrate the recipients, the Diablos hosted the fourth annual “Celebrate Giving” event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6 at the Phoenix Zoo, the release states.
The evening featured remarks from community leaders, nonprofit representatives and members of the Diablos organization, and served as a networking opportunity for local nonprofits.
“This event is truly one-of-a-kind,” said Vince Vasquez, president of Tempe Diablos. “Bringing together such a diverse group of nonprofits to network and to recognize their influence and service to Tempe is a direct reflection of the Diablos’ values and commitment to building a stronger community. We are proud to support organizations that make a daily impact in the lives of our neighbors and future leaders.”
This year’s grant cycle marks a milestone with a $50,000 increase in funding and support for 16 more programs compared to last year.
“The Tempe Diablos’ generosity makes our Shop with a Cop event possible, allowing Tempe officers to share meaningful experiences with disadvantaged children and families each holiday season,” said Rob Ferraro, president of the Tempe Officers Association. “Their support helps us create moments of joy while building lasting connections between law enforcement and the community we proudly serve.”
