Scottsdale Airport officials offer update on critical planing project under way

Scottsdale Airport is launching a $1 million master planning project, which officials at City Hall report is funded almost entirely by a Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program grant.
This master plan initiative, city officials tell the Digital Free Press, is meant to shape the airport’s future over the next 20 years — and the public is invited to play a vital role.
Of note: the master plan will not include a noise study but will focus solely on essential master plan objectives.
The master plan update process begins with an open house guided by Coffman Associates — a local aviation planning firm — from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Scottsdale Aviation Business Center, 15000 N. Airport Drive.
“Embarking on a master plan update is our proactive commitment to securing Scottsdale Airport’s long-term success as we soar to new heights in the aviation industry,” Aviation Director Gary P. Mascaro said.
“This is an opportunity to explore innovative ideas and solutions with many audiences, including airport users, tenants, businesses and community members. Public input will be key to developing a plan that best serves our community.”
The master plan will evaluate current facilities and operations, and prioritize projects that improve safety, efficiency, sustainability and growing operational demands, aiming for Scottsdale Airport to maintain its status as one of the nation’s top general aviation hubs.
