It is estimated that one in five moms is not getting enough prenatal care or social support.
To help uplift moms, the AZ Blue Foundation is opening a $100,000 grant to expand mental health care for moms.
The AZ Blue Foundation’s grant applications are now open for its Thiru Family Trust Momentum Maker Grant. This year, the grant will focus on maternal mental health. Arizona nonprofits can apply through March 27, 2025.
The 2025 grant will fund programs that help moms get mental health services and support before, during, or after pregnancy. Some examples include:
•Access to mental health care and services
•Social connectedness and support
•Early screenings and connection to needed support
•Postpartum depression and other mental health needs
This grant is made possible by the Thiru Family Trust, which partners with the AZ Blue Foundation to promote positive mental health impact, according to a press release.
“Mental health is just as important as physical,” said Thiru Thangarathinam. “This grant helps Arizona moms get the care they need for themselves and their families.”
Dr. Christine Barcamonte Wiggs, president of the AZ Blue Foundation, says the need for support is apparent.
“We are thankful to partners like the Thiru Family Trust for their ongoing dedication to improving the mental health and overall well-being of our communities,” she said. “Their support enables us to make a lasting impact on countless lives in Arizona.”
