ALS Arizona event raises vital funds to support ALS patient services

ALS Arizona hosted its 15th Annual Bite Nite Charity Event on June 8 and raised $500,000 that will go toward ALS patient and family services, community outreach, and research.
This amount surpassed the organization’s fundraising goal of $400,000, representatives tell the Digital Free Press.
ALS Arizona provides medical resources, support groups, and respite grants to patients diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Yearly expenses for those living with ALS average $250,000.
“We are thrilled and immensely grateful to have raised such a large amount that will significantly impact the lives of ALS patients in Arizona,” said Taryn Norley, ALS Arizona president, in a prepared statement. “We couldn’t have done this without our wonderful community members and donors who are so passionate about our cause.”
The funds were raised through ticket admission, donations, and bids on the live and silent auction items from local businesses. Each person who attended and provided items or bites are critical to the success of this event.
The nonprofit is committed to enhancing ALS patients’ quality of life through the free programs offered. The programs are designed to meet the essential care needs of each individual and the emotional needs of those in the community and caregivers.
