Abrazo Central Campus welcomed students from Phoenix’s Maryland School to its community gallery April 29, where the hospital is displaying a new collection of student artwork.

The visit gave students an opportunity to see their work on display in a public setting and be recognized by hospital staff and school leaders, according to a press release.

Students received applause from hospital leadership, staff, school administrators, their art teacher and parents as they walked through the hospital to view their work.

The hospital opened the community art gallery three years ago to showcase local student art. This year’s theme, “Thank You! From the Bottom of Our Hearts,” aligns with National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week.

“Thank you for everything you do. The nurses, doctors and everybody in the hospital who helps people. That was my inspiration and it makes me happy to show my art,” Ms. Isabella Cervantes, an eighth-grade student, said.

Students created a “Thank You” banner by assembling individual squares into a larger piece.
“As the longtime community hospital in north central Phoenix, it’s important to have meaningful relationships with our neighbors and support education,” Abrazo Central Campus Chief Executive Officer Gregory Pearson said.

The gallery displays student artwork on a rotating basis in collaboration with Glendale Union High School District.

“Our gallery gives student artists a place to showcase their talents and see their work impact their community. In return, their community supports them, so it’s a win-win all around,” Mr. Pearson said.

Maryland School Principal Nick Gupton also noted the value of the program for students.

“We are incredibly thankful to Abrazo Central and everyone who contributed to this opportunity for our young artists to see their own creativity and imagination on display. It makes a tangible impact, empowering students and demonstrating the strength of community collaboration,” Mr. Gupton said.
