Imprints of Honor has launched a two-year project with the Arizona State Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, aimed at expanding participation in its character and civic education program.

The project will support outreach efforts designed to increase student and veteran participation, establish Imprints of Honor chapters at additional schools and extend the program’s reach, particularly in rural Arizona communities, according to a press release.

“It is an incredible honor to serve as Arizona State Regent and work alongside dedicated DAR members throughout our state,” Katie Paulsen, Arizona state regent for the Daughters of the American Revolution, said. “I look forward to the next two years as we serve our communities, honor our veterans and preserve the stories and history that connect generations.”

Imprints of Honor works to connect students with veterans, preserve veterans’ stories and develop student leadership. Now in its 23rd year, the organization annually serves more than 300 veterans and 300 students in grades seven through 12 and college across 31 schools. Its veteran speaker program reaches more than 1,500 additional students.

Since its founding, Imprints of Honor has preserved the stories of more than 3,400 veterans through submissions to the Library of Congress Veterans History Project and the student publication “Since You Asked.”

As part of the two-year project, Daughters of the American Revolution members will conduct community outreach to connect schools with Imprints of Honor and help establish chapters at additional schools across Arizona. “Every veteran has a story worth preserving,” Ms. Paulsen, Arizona state regent for the Daughters of the American Revolution, said. “Through Imprints of Honor, we can connect generations, honor service and ensure these important stories are saved for the future.”

Members also will raise funds to support startup costs and may volunteer with chapters and teachers, connect students with veterans and assist with activities including interviewing, editing and participation in civic and veteran recognition events.

“As we continue to build our program, we are always appreciative of the support by organizations in our community who are willing to support veterans and students,” Michelle DiMuro, Imprints of Honor executive director, said. “We are grateful to be selected by the Arizona State Regent for this two-year venture to expand our outreach across the state.”
