Royse Contemporary will present “ROOTED: In the Presence of Earth,” a solo exhibition of mixed‑media botanical works and poetry by artist Kim Walker.
The exhibition brings together works from multiple series and features paintings and sculptures that incorporate abstract forms, real plant materials and original poetry, according to a press release.
Ms. Walker’s work combines pressed botanical elements with mixed‑media compositions, with each piece accompanied by an original poem written by the artist. The poems are handwritten on the back of each work.
“When you look at my artwork, please realize you are looking at not only paint, but also actual botanic elements from nature,” Ms. Walker said. “My paintings are intended to be a reverent reflection of the beauty and inspiration and metaphoric lessons from nature. I collect and press natural elements and incorporate them in my art.”
The exhibition explores Walker’s creative process and artistic perspective through the use of natural materials and layered mixed‑media techniques. The collection includes works that vary in imagery while maintaining a consistent thematic focus on nature and reflection.
“ROOTED: In the Presence of Earth” will open to the public from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, with an artist reception. Guests will have an opportunity to meet the artist and curator during the opening.
The exhibition is on view through Sunday, March 29 at Royse Contemporary, 7077 E. Main St., Suite 6, in Scottsdale’s Arts District.
