Digital Inclusion Fellowship looks to improve 21st century skills for all

Google Fiber and NTEN are announcing applications are open for the Digital Inclusion Fellowship, which is the first year the fellowship is seeking Arizona applicants.
NTEN aims to create a world where missions and movements are successful through the skillful and equitable use of technology, according to a press release.
In 2015, with sponsorship from GFiber, NTEN created the Digital Inclusion Fellowship, selecting applicants from across the United States for the program, the release states.
“We are excited to present this fellowship opportunity to Arizona and work with local nonprofit organizations and institutions to create and manage digital inclusion programs,” said Jess George, head of digital equity and community impact for GFiber. “These programs range from improving access to the internet to multi-generational digital literacy initiatives.”
NTEN’s Digital Inclusion Fellowship supports professionals working at organizations with deep connections to communities most impacted by digital divides that would benefit from digital literacy programs.
“Each cohort of fellows is an impressive group of people passionate about bringing digital equity to their communities,” said Maria Lara, digital equity manager at NTEN. “Those selected will receive innovative training, supportive connections and funding support.”
Fellows will plan and launch an innovative, sustainable digital literacy program that meets their community’s needs and advances the organization’s mission. To help bring their vision to life, fellows also receive a grant of up to $5,000.
