U.S. Navy Capt. Kurt Astroth will be inducted into the Mountain Pointe High School Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the school Sept. 11.
Capt. Astroth, a Phoenix native and 1999 graduate of Mountain Pointe, lettered in football, track and band. He was recognized as a scholar-athlete and graduated as a member of the National Honor Society.
A percussionist in the school’s concert band throughout all four years, Capt. Astroth also studied German and participated in Mountain Pointe’s German exchange program. He hosted three exchange students from Germany during his time at the school.
“This is a well-deserved recognition of your years of outstanding leadership and service to the Mountain Pointe community, and an acknowledgment that you exemplified exceptional commitment to our school and students,” Mountain Pointe Principal Tomika Banks wrote in a congratulatory letter to Capt. Astroth.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Sept. 11 in the gym lobby at Mountain Pointe High School.
Inductees also will be recognized on the field at approximately 6:30 p.m. before the Mountain Pointe varsity football game.
