The Town of Fountain Hills has welcomed a cool new addition to its business community with the launch of Snowbird Ice Cream Co., a locally owned shop offering super-premium ice cream to residents and visitors.
Founded by 21-year-old Fountain Hills resident Izaak Wontorski, Snowbird Ice Cream Co. features a variety of flavors produced by the Chocolate Shoppe in Madison, Wisconsin, according to a press release.
“The inspiration for Snowbird came from my time playing ice hockey, where post-game ice cream trips became a regular tradition,” Mr. Wontorski said in the release. “After traveling across the country to try different types, I knew I had to bring the deliciousness of Chocolate Shoppe to Arizona.”
The Chocolate Shoppe is known for its small-batch recipes and high-quality ingredients, including Madagascar vanilla and ultra-dark Zanzibar chocolate. Its ice cream contains 14% butterfat and a low overrun of 35–40%, resulting in a dense, creamy texture. Snowbird selected the brand after extensive product testing and comparison.
The 860-square-foot shop features a modern, minimal aesthetic with clean lines, bold contrasts and curated accents.
A grand mural, painted by Ms. Laura Thurbon and the Inspiration Academy, adds a vibrant touch to the space, creating an atmosphere that is both visually appealing and welcoming.
Snowbird Ice Cream Co. is at 16725 E. Avenue of the Fountains, Suite C-109. It is open from 12 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, making it one of the few businesses in town open late.
