School of Ballet Arizona highlights student talent this November

Staff Reports | Digital Free Press

Students from The School of Ballet Arizona will present its annual Fall Showcase production the weekend of Nov. 17-19 at Ballet Arizona’s Dorrance Theatre with Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestras.

The performance will celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of these students and give audiences the opportunity to experience a show featuring the next generation of performing artists in Phoenix, according to a press release.

Intermediate to advanced-level students on the verge of professional careers will perform an excerpt from La Bayadere, Act II, as well as other pieces choreographed by faculty at The School of Ballet Arizona. La Bayadere is a classic ballet set in the ancient Royal India, that tells the story of eternal love, mystery, fate, vengeance and justice.

“We are so excited to showcase the talent, artistry and passion of these young dancers and musicians,” said Maria Simonetti, the director of The School of Ballet Arizona, in a prepared statement. “With each performance, these dancers and musicians grow in their ability to perform in a professional setting with music and dance combined. These students can’t wait to share their love for ballet and music with the Arizona community.”

The School of Ballet Arizona is the only professional school to offer live music through a youth symphony orchestra with its performances.

In addition to performing works choreographed for professional companies, students have the unique opportunity to perform with live music for both its spring and fall showcases that will help prepare them for professional level productions. From primary to pre-professional levels, each student will showcase their talents and training from the wide variety of classes available at SBAZ.

Young musicians in the Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestras enjoy weekly rehearsals led by world-class conductors, sectionals coached by professional musicians, weekend retreats, and the opportunity to performs before thousands of audience members in the highest-quality venues throughout the Valley. Through this partnership, these musicians can also hone their skill for playing in time with the dancers.

Tickets for Fall Showcase are on sale HERE or by calling 602-381-1096.
